To meet the requirements of high horse power Dieselelectric
locomotives of upto 3300 HP capacity
manufactured by Indian Railways, Daulat Ram has
designed, developed and manufactured traction
alternator type DR101/03AZ for ALCO locomotives for
2950 HP input to traction motor at 1050 rpm.
This traction alternator is a salient pole, 3-phase, star
connected, separately excited machine. The excitation to
the rotor field is supplied through the slip rings. The
series winding provided on the gear driven DC auxiliary
generator and exciter, will enable Diesel engine cranking
when connected across the locomotive battery. The
alternator is directly coupled to the Diesel engine and
driven by it.
- A flawless design change in slip ring's construction will
help in delivering meticulous and dependable
performance of the machine.
- The insulation system of the stator coils has been
improved for higher voltage operation of the
locomotive.
- VPI in solventless polyesterimide resin (Class 220)
with N2 pressurization for better consolidation of both
stator and rotor windings.
