Traction Motor DR46/09AZ is a series wound, four pole, forced ventilated DC motor, suitable for standard gauge and metre gauge Diesel Electric Locomotives. This motor can also be used on medium power, BG Diesel Electric Locomotives.
Some of the salient features are:Fully fabricated magnet frame.
Arch bound commutator, dynamically seasoned, with L-shaped teflon ring protection.
Heat sealed Kapton film insulated armature conductors.
TIG welded armature.
Polyimide film (Kapton), mica paper and PTFE tape based insulation for armature and field coils.
Main field and compole coils bonded with poles for improved heat dissipation.
VPI of armature and field coils in solventless polyetherimide resin (Class 200) to obtain void free insulation.
